Writing and demoing the next album. It will the poetry of Robert Olen Butler set to music from his work ‘Severance’
“each in the voice of a beheaded historical, mythical, animal or modern figure, make up the collection. Each is exactly 240 words, Butler’s estimate of the number of words that could be spoken by a decapitated head before oxygen runs out.”
Here is a demo of the second completed song. Chicken (Americauna pullet, beheaded in Alabama for Sunday dinner, 1958) recorded on my four-track cassette recorder in the wee hours at my home in Denton, TX.

Here’s the first work. It is a guitar improvisation I recorded in my home in Denton, TX. Two guitars. Both improvised the second guitar is a reaction to the previously recorded guitar but recorded directly after the initial track. The tuning is random and was not predetermined. One complete improvisation divided into three parts….some superfluous meandering has been edited out.
